simply organic

organic

eat organic.
drink organic.
buy organic.
raw. vegetarian. vegan.
Green Revolution.

(I am neither promoting nor condemning eating organic foods…my disclaimer, I suppose)

organic.
quick…what first pops into your head?
food. right?
organic = non-chemically treated, non-use of unapproved pesticides, fresh or minimally processed food

this way of eating probably melds well into a Biblical model, don’t you think?
Spiritual food.
in this case, organic, refers to Living, fundamental and basic.
feasting at the Lord’s Table…the most basic and fundamental
organic.
tasting and seeing that the Lord is good. (Psalm 34:8)
organic.
fundamental. foundational.
basic.
eating the Body and the Blood (Matthew 26)
organic.
craving more than milk. craving solid food…something to chew on….something to ruminate.
organic.

eating organically seems to be very popular right now.
buying and cooking raw foods.
certified organic purchases…if it’s stamped “organic” then it must be good for you, right?
i am not sure i want to go as far as to say that it is a fad or a trend, but 20 years ago i certainly don’t remember this kind of popularity.

with this in mind, i started thinking about my relationships, especially my relationship with Jesus.

are they, is it, organic…it both senses of the word?
focused on the fundamental and basic but also not processed? is there anything artificial?
to take this one step further…
how is the Church?
has it become trendy, fashionable, and vegetarian?
is Church organic?
do we leave with something to ruminate on?
has it become processed?

we are the Body of Christ, Church.
Christ is the most fundamental and basic element.
He is organic.

in our relationships….how we see and deal with each other…
in our churches…where we gather together…
in our neighborhoods….where we live out our faith….
what would happen if we were just simply organic?

God just wants us to know Him. (Hosea 6:6)
and He has told us what He wants from us:
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
take God seriously.
– Micah 6:8 (MSG)

sounds like a simple, and organic plan!
and this is all possible because He is Alive!

grace.
