make me a servant

…but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. ~Philippians 2:7

Oh, if I could fully grasp the New Testament concept of servitude – absolute dependence on God.

Jesus’ life demonstrated this in His relationship with His Father.  His Father, God, is the master and He was the servant.  The Master had a full claim on His life and in return, Jesus, the servant, was fully committed to the Master.

God told Jesus what was expected of Him, the Plan, and Jesus simply carried out the Plan of the Master.

He set the example for us.  We are to follow His lead.

Our service to Jesus is done through serving others.  Our actions and attitudes to those around us are indicators of our heart toward Him. – June Kimmel

ouch!  To know that how I react to and minister to those around me, the ‘least of these’, is a direct indicator of my own heart toward Jesus smarts a little.

My prayer is that I would fully embrace the attitude of Jesus…to be a true servant, in the fullest sense!

Brothers and sisters, God has called you to freedom!  Hear the call, and do not spoil this gift by using your liberty to engage in what your flesh desires.  Instead, use it to serve each other as Jesus taught through love. ~Galatians 5:13 (the Voice)
